With all the grapefruit and champagne syrup left over from my last recipe, I concocted a new recipe so they wouldn’t go to waste! Delicious. I wondered if I should use it for a different dessert but in my heart but in my heart, I knew a cocktail was in order! ???? The most fun recipe development process I’ve ever had. ? Anyhow, I combined syrup, vodka, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and mint to make Heave in a glass. Let me know what you think of it ?. Cheers! ???? 21+
A grapefriut chamgapne syrup updates a classic cocktail.
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 tbsp light corn syrup
- 3/4 cup champagne
- 3 cups freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- 1 1/2 oz grapegruit juice
- 1 1/2 oz syrup
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 lime
- 1 sprig mint
- 1 section of grapefruit peel
Add the ingredients to a medium saucepan and simmer until reduced by half or more, about 35 minutes. You will want the consistency to be syrupy with a flavor that's concentrated. Pour into a glass container and chill.
Add the grapefruit juice and mint to a shaker and muddle.
Add ice to the shaker then pour in the vodka, syrup and lime juice.
Shake well and pour into cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of grapefruit peel and mint.
Starting off with ingredients like this you know it’s going to be good right?
This cocktail was pretty spot on for my tastes but if you want to lighten it up you can add a spritz of soda water or a splash of champagne!
