Toast your bread. Slice and de-pit the avocados by tapping the pits with your knife and twisting the pit out. Don't stab at it!
If you're topping with something like an egg or tomato slices you can scoop the flesh out and mash it down for a base. If you're making an avocado rose or using decorative slices then use a sharp knife to cut thin slices.
Cut your toppings; halve the cherry tomatoes, slice the radishes, green onions etc. Fry or poach the egg if using.
For the Avocado rose
Spread the thin avocado slices so they form a long line of overlapping pieces. Carefully turn one side of the slides on itself to begin forming a spiral. Once the slices have been formed into a spiral transfer the "rose" onto the toast using a spatula or knife. Spread the "petals" out with your fingers and sprinkle with seasoning before serving.
For Avocado Toasts With Toppings
Mash avocado onto the toast, sprinkle with seasonings like salt, pepper, sesame seeds, etc. Top with halved cherry tomatoes, slices of strawberries drizzled with balsamic vinegar, green onions, radishes cheese, or your favorite fruit!
Notes
Choose ripe avocados! Hard or overripe avocados will not make for a great snack. I've got my Avocado choosing tips below.
Breads I love for this are whole grain, potato, rye, brioche, and any brown bread.
Make your toast just before serving for best results. The taste will remain unchanged for a while but they do brown pretty quickly.
Go for big, fresh flavors you love, avocado is a great supporting ingredient with a creamy mouthfeel but it's pretty mild.
