Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make air fryer chicken patties.

Chicken — you need 1 pound of ground chicken to make four chicken patties. I prefer a mix of white and dark meat for the juiciest patties.

Egg — an egg helps to bind the pattie mixture so they don’t fall apart in the air fryer.

Breadcrumbs — breadcrumbs absorb and retain moisture, so the air fryer chicken patties turn out juicy and tender every time.

Seasoning — for flavorful patties, you need salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper.

Oil — you’ll brush the tops of the air fryer chicken patties with olive oil so they get some nice golden brown color while they cook. The oil also helps lock in moisture.

6. Brush the top of each chicken patty with olive oil. Air fry chicken patties at 400°F for 7 minutes. Then flip the patties and cook for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, or until the internal temperature is at least 165°F.

How To Freeze Chicken Patties

It’s easy to freeze air fryer chicken patties! After you shape them, place the uncooked patties in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flash freeze until solid, about 1 hour. Then, transfer the frozen chicken patties to a freezer-safe container or freezer bag, making sure to place parchment or wax paper between each patty if you stack them. They will freeze well for up to 3 months, so you always have an easy meal ready to go!

Cooking Frozen Chicken Patties In The Air Fryer

You can cook frozen air fryer chicken patties straight from the freezer! No need to thaw them out. Cook as directed, adding 2 to 3 minutes of cooking time to each side.

How To Serve

Air fryer chicken patties are so versatile and a great quick dinner idea! Serve them like chicken burgers on hamburger buns or buttery brioche buns. If desired, top each patty with a slice of cheese and air fry for 1 more minute at 350°F to melt. Then, load them up with your favorite toppings, like lettuce, tomato, sliced red onion, and pickles. You can also warm the buns in the air fryer before assembling the burgers.

For a lighter meal, you can chop up the patties and serve them on top of fresh salads. Or, simply serve the patties with your favorite dipping sauce, like BBQ sauce or ketchup, and air fryer sides like air fryer french fries, air fryer sweet potato fries, or air fryer potatoes.

How To Store and Reheat Leftovers

Air-fried chicken patties will keep in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days. You can also freeze them in a freezer bag or freezer-safe container (with parchment paper between patties if you layer them) for up to 3 months.

To reheat, place the patties in the air fryer at 350°F for 5 to 7 minutes or until heated through.

Pro Tips For Making This Recipe

  • For juicy chicken burgers, use ground chicken that is 93/7 (93% meat and 7% fat). If the ground chicken is leaner than that, the patties can turn out dry.
  • For more umami flavor, add 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce to boost the savory flavors of the patties and give more of a beef burger flavor.
  • To easily transfer patties to the air fryer, form the patties and place them on squares of parchment paper. Flip the paper and patty (patty side down) into the air fryer basket and peel off the parchment.
  • If your air fryer basket is small, cook in batches. Depending on the size of your air fryer, the basket may be too small to accommodate all four patties at once. If that’s the case, simply work in batches, fitting as many as you can at once without the patties touching.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. Ground chicken is safe to eat once cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F, so I like to check the center of each patty with an instant-read thermometer before removing them from the air fryer.
