Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs are simply the easiest way to cook eggs and once you use this method you’ll be totally converted, it makes perfectly cooked eggs every time!
Why You Should Cook Eggs in the Instant Pot
Your Instant Pot is full of handy tricks, and cooking eggs is definitely one of them. One reason I like using my Instant Pot to cook eggs is that you don’t have to deal with a big pot of boiling water…just a cup in the bottom of the pot.
The eggs also peel extremely easy, so you can enjoy them even quicker. Since everybody likes their eggs cooked differently, I’ve included several different cook times below.
Yes! You can make perfect hard boiled, soft boiled and medium boiled eggs in the instant pot!
How to Make Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs
- Place the eggs in the instant pot with water.
- Cook on low pressure, choose the correct time (find times below) for cooking either hard-boiled, soft-boiled or jammy eggs.
- Remove from instant pot and place in a bowl of ice water to stop cooking.
- Peel and serve or store for later.
Why and Ice Bath is Important
Eggs will continue to cook even when the instant pot is finished or they are removed from the water (this goes for any method for cooking eggs). Eggs also cook extremely fast so to stop the cooking process immediately you need to put the eggs in a bowl of water and ice to cool them right down.
That way you’ll have eggs cooked to your liking every time!
How to Store Cooked Eggs
Soft and hard-boiled eggs store really well in the fridge. If you are making these instant pot eggs for a later date then store them in a suitable container in the fridge for up to 1 week (unpeeled) or 5 days if already peeled.
You can enjoy them for snacks, salads, sandwiches and so much more!
Releasing Pressure from the Instant Pot
Make sure to use the quick release when cooking instant pot hard-boiled eggs or eggs of any kind. If you let the pressure release naturally then the eggs will overcook.
Once you’ve released the pressure, remove the eggs with tongs (they’ll be hot) then put them straight in an ice bath.
How to Peel Cooked Eggs
Carefully and gently tap the cooked egg off a work surface to break the shell then start peeling until you have removed all of the shell. You can also use the back of a teaspoon to gently tap the shell if it’s easier.
Top Tips for Making Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs
- Hard or soft-cooked eggs keep well in the shell, so make a big batch and store them in the refrigerator for lunches and breakfasts all week long.
